Start with a clean pad and prime it before your first pass. Apply a small amount of compound to the pad or the panel and spread to cover your working area.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn a rotary, spread at around 650 rpm, then lift to roughly 1,400 rpm under moderate pressure to cut. On an orbital, spread on speed 1 and work up to speed 5. Either way, work one section at a time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBecause this is your heaviest cutting stage, keep two or three pads on the go and swap them between sections. Letting each pad cool holds the cut consistent and protects your finish.
